*Job Description:

  • Showing effective communication with anyone, patients, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues, including more complicated report writing when needed;
  • Working as part of a team at unit level to make sure excellent nursing care by the nursing team;
  • Working effectively at every level, with persons of intellectual, culture, racial as well as religious differences;
  • Ability to manage your own task, time and that of junior colleagues to make sure good nursing service in the unit;
  • Focussing a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adheres to the principles of Batho Pele;
  • Ability to build contacts and maintain a network of professional relations to enhance service delivery;
  • Have a basic computer literacy;
  • Knowledge of nursing legislation and related legal as well as ethical nursing practices and the impacts on service delivery;
  • Making clinical nursing practical by the nursing team in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as  determined by the related health facilities;
  • Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility;
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices.

*Job Requirements:

  • Have minimum Grade 12 Certificate;
  • Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and midwifery;
  • Current registration with the S.A.N.C. as a General Nurse and midwifery;
  • A minimum of 10 years  nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing;
  • At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level;
  • Knowledge and experience of the Public Service Policies, Acts and Regulations, Sound management, negotiations, interpersonal and problem solving skills;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Sound working knowledge of nursing management with specialty;
  • Knowledge of labour relations and disciplinary procedures;
  • Basis financial management skills.
