What is the position?
The Amathuba (“opportunities”) Learnership Program is a 12 month program designed for matriculants who are new to the job market. With both workplace and classroom components, Learners that complete the program will be awarded a Wealth Management Level 4 qualification.
It is also a great opportunity to begin a wondrous and prosperous career within one of the best performing financial institutions in the world. Are there any requirements for this Learnership?
Yes, the requirements for the Amathuba learnership programmes are as followed:
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar field or a great interest in the finance industry
Those applying must:
be currently unemployed.
have passed Grade 12 or NQF level 4: Pure Maths (50% or over) or Maths Literacy (70% or over) and English (50% or over).
not have more than a Grade 12 or NQF level 4 qualification.
have passed an official second language (50% or over).
be a South African citizen between the ages of 18-25.

If your candidacy is accepted, you will be invited to undergo various written assessments to make sure you are the right fit for the position. Candidates must have a good credit score, with no previous history of being in debt or missing any debt payments.

There is no stipend or payment for this programme, if you are from a poor background, it is recommended that you apply for learnership bursaries in order to fund your learning.
However once your learnership is complete you will have access to a very wide range of career within the Old Mutual Group, some example wages are listed here:
Business analyst: R220,000
Branch Sales Manager: R191,000
Sales /consultant: R170,000
Are bursaries available?
Yes, the Old Mutual Group offer bursaries for students who need access to funds in order to pay for their living and accommodations during the learnership programme.
Candidates who show the most respect towards their education and who genuinely wish to create and grow a career in the finance industry will be given more consideration for the bursary.
The bursary will cover:
All tuition costs of tuition at University of Cape Town (UCT).
Housing fees and one annual return flight home for out-of-town students.
Work done over vacation.
The better the quality of your degree the more incentives you will be offered.
Allowance for books and general use.
Who qualifies for the Bursary?
You will need a Level 6 matric (at least 70%) for all subjects including English and Mathematics (not Maths Literacy).
There is also a required commitment to the CA Training Programme as well as a commitment to work for Old Mutual for a specified period of time after completion of the programme. Please apply in good time for admission to the university.
